WindLocator – the CWD’s airborne wind measuring system

Lift-Off for the WindLocator – the CWD’s Airborne Wind Measuring System

Steep territory, differences in roughness or tunnel effects create wind phenomena that lead to yield differences of more than 30% between individual turbines within a single wind farm if the latter is set in complex terrain. The WindLocator, the airborne wind measuring system developed by the Center for Windpower Drives, makes autonomous, position-controlled measuring of local wind situations and thus yield-optimized park planning possible.
