Building

The Center for Wind Power Drives is part of the heavy duty drivetrain technology cluster, one of 19 researchcluster which perform research and development effort at highly loaded drive systems. The CWD ist specialized in the drive systems sector for wind power plants and allows to test 100 tons heavy and 14 meter long nacelles under practical conditions. More than 50 experts from 7 institutes  of the RWTH-departments Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering will have access to the test rig. The 25 million euro new building contains an experimental hall including an installation area, a workshop and storage areas on 2500 squaremeters. The new offices, conference rooms and social rooms offer an optimal research enviroment.

Further information can be found at the website of the Bau- und Liegenschaftsbetrieb des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen.
