Wind Tunnels
The RWTH Aachen University has two closed loop wind tunnels. The first wind tunnel is equipped with an open test section, which is 1.8 m long and has a cross sectional diameter of 1.2 m. The maximum velocity reached in the test section is 60 m/s. The test section of the second wind tunnel has two different cross sections (0.6 x 0.6 m² and 0.8 x 0.8 m²) that can be operated in either an open or a closed configuration. Depending on the configuration the maximum velocity reaches values between 30 m/s and 50 m/s. For both wind tunnels the intensity of turbulence is below 0.1% and 0.4%, respectively.
