Abstract
Renewable energies are being further expanded within the framework of energy change. However, this expansion does not come without a price. In contrast to conventional power plants, renewable energies require more space to provide the energy. The building area is limited and must therefore be used effectively.Currently, the positions of the wind turbines (WT) are first determined in the design phase. The wind turbine characteristics are then selected. This approach leads to a local optimum. In the context of this work, a simulation environment was developed which determines the optimal WT placement taking the WT configuration (hub height, rotor diameter and rated power) into account. Thus, the optimal configuration is determined for each possible layout. By evaluating the different local optima, a global optimum for the available area can be determined.Core of the dissertation is the development of a simulation environment with a high usability. The optimization should reflect an approximation of the optimum within a short computing time. Thus, an application in the industry is possible. The determined wind farm layouts are validated with literature and existing projects.
